A Sally Update
Miss Sally has been very busy learning her phonics. Each week at school, the show-and-tell theme corresponds to the letter/sound of the week (this week, it's "P"). And they sing a song using that sound (This week, "P is for Penelope")
Sally has also been exploring other horizons. After expressing an interest in soccer several times, we bought her a soccer ball, and daddy is teaching her how to dribble, walk the ball, and kick. He bought some little orange cones and found some drills on the internet, so they are practicing in the basement every day, and Sally really enjoys it. Signups for next year's soccer camp/recreational season are done mid-summer, so we figure she'll have some basic skills by that time (the clinics start at age 5).
Our little soccer star is also expanding her palate. This week, she was very excited about the prospect of eating artichokes, and she has a book about a boy who goes to a friend's for a sleepover and eats something that looks like a pinecone -- an artichoke! So we steamed artichokes Monday night and showed Sally how to pull off the leaves, dip them in butter, and scrape the fleshy part off the leaves with her teeth. Oh yeah, she was definitely diggin' it!
And this morning, when she came into my office to wake me up, this is what she said:
"You are the sweetest mommy ever. I just want to put you in my smoothie!"
Awwwwwwwwwwwwww
